ok- one last vacation post

I can not really go back to work mode just yet so i will tell you about our last day here in Borneo.

After our last morning at the Pom pom island (which i really recommend you go to even if the food was not at its best) we flew back to Kota Kinabalu where we met up with Max (the owner of Nagapuri)who drove us to his place 2 hours from the city to the beach- very basic living but we had the longest beach all to ourselves.

The meals you eat with Max and his friends who volunteer at his place in return for food and beer, so this is as close to the locals you get!

Cant get enough of the clear water

The beach at Nagapuri where we stayed the last night

Our home for the night

The house on the hill

There was another more upscale place next door which looked really nice- worth checking out!

The not so comfortable sunbeds..

Rain

When i come to think about it it was not such a smart idea to run away from the bad Shanghai summer weather and try to find happiness here in Borneo- the weather is exactly the same!

The last few days it has been storming here on the island so not much more to do then read, eat and then some..

Our attempt to diving went so so..the diving in itself was ok (not as fantastic as I had expected after everybody telling me Borneo being one of the best places to dive around the world) but the big drama started on the way back from the dive site when it was raining so heavy they could not find the way back to our island so we were stranded in the storm for a looong time- when we asked if we were lost our dive master told us- no, not lost, we just dont know where we are..

Here is some pictures from our few hours of sun- now i am going to enjoy my last lazy day for this summer!

Outside our fantastic water villa

Never seen more clear water

Vacation is coming to its end- see you back in Shanghai!

Borneo lovin- finally

Its been a quite hectic start on the vacation- our Shanghai flight was delayed so we had to spend 1 night at a airport hotel in Kuala Lumpur and go up too early in the morning to catch our flight to Kuta Kinabalu- and there we checked in to a very strange hotel located in a shopping mall outside town..dont know how we ended up there but it looked really nice on the website..
After 1 day located at the pool area surrounded by various construction sights we finally left for Sandakan and Uncle Tan with whom we were going to stay with in the jungle- hardcore, but fantastic if you like birds, monkeys, crocodiles and mosquitos- I came to the knowledge it is not a way i prefer to spend my vacation on and i definitely do not want to spend it with other snoring people in a shared hut..at least now i know!

After a sleepless night i can not tell you how happy i am to be at PomPom island- the paradise of all paradises!

We are staying on a raised bungalow out in the water and it is just soo chill!! lovin lovin

We are planning on taking the advanced divers course- the water is just so clear it is begging to be dived in- will let you know how it goes!

Borneo bus stop

Morning safari on the Kinabatangan river

Monkey spotting

The hut from the outside- right in the jungle

Paradise on our doorstep- literally!!
