18 til i die

Never say no, try everything twice!

We followed the advice of our rafting instructor in New Zeeland and went to Vang Vieng to try out the tubing which means that you rent a tube and cruise along the Nam Song river, stop at the bars along the way, drink the backpacker bucket, swing the rope swings and look at the magnificent view of the mountains rising directly beside the river.

There is no such thing as a lifeguard around so use your common sense and stop before the sunset and you should be fine!

Say what you want about it but it was a lot of fun and i would easily go back and do it again!

On our way

Avoid the free lao- lao whiskey shots..bad news!

The things one do to win a free bucket..

Fashion exhibition at Fotografiska

I really want to see this exhibition with 51 legendary photographers such as Steven Meisel, Irving Penn and swedish Mikael Jansson- so friends at home please wait for me, let´s go in November when i come!!

This is what i read about it:

This exhibition provides a representative overview of the development of fashion photography from its beginnings in the 1920s to the present. Based on the collection of Camera Work in Berlin, the exhibition features approximately 200 prints, many of them vintages, by 51 photographers.Fashion! guides us through an exhilarating visual journey of the various trends of fashion photography.

Fashion photography, like no other genre, is able to capture the zeitgeist of a decade with such clarity. Moreover, it tells us, in a very vivid and lucid way, about the longings and dreams of respective generations. Fashion photography consistently defies convention and resists definition. Thus, to claim there is a linear development of the genre is incorrect. Rather, there is a complex and lively iconographic system of analogies, references, and astounding advances. It is the innovation and glamour that surrounds fashion photography that we find so enthralling. We live vicariously through its models, and we relish in the fantasy of its visual stories, which is why looking at this variety of fashion photographs is so truly pleasurable.

A Walk in the park

I normally take a morning walk in Fuxing park when i am in Shanghai and i do not want to loose my flow even though i am on vacation so we found a park here in HCMC that i must say was very similar, or at least all the characters in it..and they all stared as much so i felt at home!

We have the man who is walking backwards, the group practicing Tai Chi, the badminton players, the dancers, the birdcages, the people working out on the colorful senior citizen exercise equipment and of course the more relaxed ones that just sit on the benches and look at the ongoing show..

Swedish style

It is popping up some photographies online on my cool friends lately..the best one must be Hanna appearing at Selfridges webpage next to Elle’s accessories editor Donna Wallace and i love their description of her..

Hannah, 29

A feminine top knot..

The Leather Gilet: Hannah’s tough leather look includes an All Saints men’s waistcoat and Acne boots. She contrasts her hard edged ensemble with a feminine top knot and soft make-up.

And how hot is it that Turkish Vogue took a sneak photo of Erika when she was in Istanbul??

As for me, I was photographed in Paris by a photographer that sells pictures to various french magazines so lets wait and see where this one will end up..

Not too happy with that outfit but i love the background

Birthday celebrations at Waterhouse

Everybody is back in town but we are all leaving again for october holidays so we gathered at Waterhouse Table No1 at the south end of the Bund for some birthday celebrations.

I really like this riverside old factory that i feel mix the old Shanghai with the new in a really cool way and the rooftop cocktail bar carries one of the best views in town as well as a really good Litchi Martini which is almost all i am asking for- if only a few more people would find their way here i think it could be one of the best rooftop bars in town!

Friday night outfit..

Frida and the birthday girl

Erika and her Kiwi mojito that looked really good!

As for the food it was mediocre so eat somewhere else and go straight to the bar!
